House of Multiple Occupancy

House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO) can be seen in a variety of settings, most often as student accommodation.  As they are an uncommon type of domestic dwelling they fall under their own specific requirements within the various Fire Safety Regulations in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. To satisfy the local authority to be granted an HMO licence they require:

  • Fire Safety Risk Assessment
  • Legionella Risk Assessment
  • Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)
  • Gas Safety Certificate
  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
  • Fire Extinguishing Media
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Escape Route and Evacuation Information
