Legionnaire’s disease occurs when humans consume the legionella bacteria; a naturally-occuring bacteria in water that spreads and multiplies when water is left to stagnate. A common misconception is that legionella bacteria only affects buildings that utilise water storage tanks however legionella bacteria can grow and multiply in any small amount of stagnant water, including short pipework under sinks or in showerheads.

Legionella Risk Assessments are required for domestic rental or commercial properties to reduce the risk of Legionnaire’s Disease to the occupants.
